UPDATED: These projections now reflect the official playoff seedings announced by the Virginia High School League.

Week 10 of the high school football season is nearly complete. After a late Friday night full of football, caffeine and far too much math, we’ve compiled our playoff projections for the Virginia regions that include local teams.

Official playoff brackets will be released by the Virginia High School League on Sunday.

First-round matchups:

No. 16 Robinson at No. 1 Lake Braddock

No. 15 Washington-Lee at No. 2 Madison

No. 14 W.T. Woodson at No. 3 Westfield

No. 13 Oakton at No. 4 South Lakes

No. 12 Mount Vernon at No. 5 Centreville

No. 11 Battlefield at No. 6 South County

No. 10 T.C. Williams at No. 7 West Potomac

No. 9 Patriot at No. 8 Hayfield

• Lake Braddock held off Conference 7 rival South County, 52-44, to nab the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage through the region tournament. A year ago, the Stallions won the same matchup to claim the top spot and they advanced to the region final.

• Washington-Lee scored a touchdown in the final minute or regulation to knock off rival Yorktown, 14-10, and clinch a playoff spot. The Generals will travel to Madison two weeks removed from a 34-17 loss to the Warhawks on the same field. Yorktown, which was also vying for a place in the field, did not make the cut as a result of the loss.

• Several teams that did not reach the postseason a year ago punched their tickets this fall, including T.C. Williams and Mount Vernon, which rounded out an impressive contingent from Conference 7. Six of the conference’s eight teams made the 6A North region playoffs, and the 7-10 matchup between Alexandria West Potomac and T.C. Williams will be an all Conference 7 affair.

• Annandale (vs. West Springfield) and Chantilly (vs. Westfield) both lost Friday, dashing their hopes of extending their seasons.

Note: The region is split into two eight-team brackets based on geography. Only the north half includes teams from within The Post’s coverage area.

The North

1. Manchester (9-1)

2. Colonial Forge (8-2)

3. Thomas Dale (8-2)

4. Riverbend (7-3)

6. James River (6-4)

8. Cosby (5-5)

North first-round matchups

No. 8 Cosby at No. 1 Manchester

No. 7 Hylton at No. 2 Colonial Forge

No. 6 James River at No. 3 Thomas Dale

No. 5 Freedom-Woodbridge at No. 4 Riverbend

• Freedom-Woodbridge enters the postseason riding a wave of momentum after storming past Colonial Forge, 27-17, on Friday to cap a turnaround regular season for an Eagles team coming off consecutive three-win campaigns.

Kaevon Chase and Potomac Falls will host Orange in a first-round matchup in the 5A North region. (Pete Marovich/For The Washington Post)
