Located in Morgantown, "one of the most livable small towns in America, " West Virginia University (WVU) School of Pharmacy offers students the opportunity to earn the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree in a small class (80-90 student) environment. State of the art classroom, library, laboratory, and simulation center facilities are part of a multi-disciplinary health sciences center, including the fields of medicine, dentistry, nursing, public health, and allied health professions. The campus also includes a 400+ bed tertiary care hospital, level-I trauma center, cancer research and treatment center, psychiatric hospital, rehabilitation hospital, regional eye center, a neurosciences center and a biomedical research facility.

The Pharm.D. curriculum is delivered via a systems based therapy approach consisting of six semesters (fall and spring) of didactic work plus experiential rotations throughout the curriculum. Didactic semesters average 16-21 hours, which include elective courses. Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE) begin in the first year of the curriculum. A minimum of three of the Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) rotations must be performed in designated rural areas. In addition, interprofessional education is a priority at our School, thus students will have various experiences with the other health disciplines offered at WVU.

Students may also complete a dual Pharm.D./MBA degree, or areas of emphasis based upon elective course work taken in the professional program. These five areas are Clinical/Residency, Research, College Teaching, Global Health, and Geriatric Pharmacy. A variety of postgraduate residencies and fellowships are available. In addition, students may pursue Ph.D. degrees in biomedical science, pharmaceutical and pharmacological sciences, and health outcomes research.

Our graduates typically surpass the national passage rate on the NAPLEX exam and enter a wide variety of pharmacy related career paths. In addition, many graduates are admitted into nationally recognized post-graduate studies. Alumni, located in nearly all 50 states and several foreign countries, include recognized leaders in business, academic and professional arenas. Prospective students may visit the School's website to learn more about some of our noted alumni who were recently inducted into the School of Pharmacy's Hall of Fame. You may read biographies of these notable alumni and their accomplishments on this site.
