The wellness industry is growing rapidly in America and around the world. In fact, the spa industry grew 58 percent from 2007 to 2013 - from $60 billion to $94 billion, with a 47 percent growth in locations, reaching 105, 591 spas.

The median pay for massage therapists ranges from $35, 000 to $75, 000 per year. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for massage therapists is projected to grow 23 percent from 2012 to 2022, much faster than the average of 11 percent for other occupations.

Massage therapy is quickly becoming an integral part of medical treatment plans in healthcare facilities, doctors’ offices and sports medicine clinics. Massage therapists treat clients by using touch to manipulate the soft tissue muscles of the body. Therapists help relieve pain, rehabilitate injuries, reduce stress, increase relaxation and aid in the general wellness of clients.
